I love to talk. For the people that know me, they know this to be true. I probably tend to over share when I am talking too, which isn’t always a good thing. I love to make people laugh, cut up and just have fun when I am talking with someone. There was an area of my life where I struggled to talk. No conversation is as important as this one for a Christian, yet I found myself struggling to communicate consistently and some days not at all. Which is unhealthy. Of course, I am writing about prayer. My prayer life was inconsistent at best. In fact, I was like the 15-year-old version of myself where most adults... thought I was mute. When I was younger, around my peers I was the life of the party, but put me around an adult or a group of adults and I would freeze. I won’t go into detail on why this happened, but if you have ready some of my other posts then you probably have a good idea of why I was this way. Prayer is one of our greatest assets as believers yet many, like myself, struggle to communicate with God consistently. Through Jesus, we have direct access to go to the Father in prayer. I don’t need anyone else to do it on my behalf. When Jesus redeemed me with His faithful and sinless life, I was given access to the father through prayer. Some people don’t pray because they feel distant from God, not praying will cause you to feel this way. Some people don’t pray because you have unconfessed sin hindering your relationship with God and some people don’t pray because they don’t feel like they know how to pray. How do I know this? For one, this was me and two these things are biblical. The bible is full of wisdom on prayer. What not to do, how to pray, why we pray, etc. My goal today is simply to get you to start praying and hopefully to start your day in prayer. God wants you to bring your burdens to Him through prayer. I want you to pray no matter where you are: Driving, keep your eyes open of course lol. Work, grocery store, shower, nail salon. However, start your day in prayer in a room, closet or some other place where distractions don’t exist. Give God the very best of your time in prayer without distractions and I promise you will notice changes in your time with Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead your prayer, what I noticed is that in doing so, my prayers became less about me and more about the people around me in my inner-circle. Listen, it doesn’t matter where you are starting from, just start. There’s no timer on prayer. Pray until you are done. Seeking His will through every word and not your own. Start small if you need to, but just get started. I can’t imagine your life and fellowship with God being the same within 30-days. He’s ready to listen, take the first step and start praying today.
