Even God rested on the 7th day! He really didn't need to rest, but it is obvious that we need to rest, relax, recharge and get ready for the next challenge. Some people go until they either burnout or get close to burning out. Some work and then their only down time is the weekend or a week's vacation once a year. Well balanced hobbies are a great way to relax, destress and recharge. The problem is some don't have a hobby, while others have allowed their hobbies to become their God and some tend to put hobbies over their jobs and families. Before my cancer battle I enjoyed playing softball and basketball. After my battle, because of certain side-effects I had to find other things to do as potential hobbies. A common mistake is people hear hobby and think it has to be a physical, exertion of energy activity and that is not the case. Some people love to put model cars together, while others will do a complicated puzzle. Some people paint, crochet, build, etc. Others will hike, bike, etc. The underlying purpose of a hobby is to take your mind away from the daily grind and allow you to focus your efforts on something enjoyable.
