Yesterday I started my 11th cancer treatment and what a day it turned out to be. Everyone was there because of the holiday all the Monday patients as well as the Tuesday patients. I looked for my old friend from when I was on Mondays, but I didn't see the Perry's. Hopefully that was a good sign. SB was there, Vicky and I met some more really nice people. Monday night I had trouble sleeping, not cancer or side effects related, my mind was just racing, and I couldn't turn it off. Finally, I fell asleep around 3:00 am, but unfortunately up at 5:00 am with a strong nosebleed. It didn't want to seem to clot, so I ended up just staying awake from there. It did finally stop. I was really tired so I thought I would catch up on some sleep at the cancer center.
I nestled back in my chair and quickly found myself in la-la land. However, my doctor and a few patients decided to have some fun with me. Doctor nudged my leg to wake me up and it turned out there was some concerns a Tornado was about to hit, but then they realized it was me snoring. LOL. However, we then talked about my future, and he was praising the way I handled the treatments and that my numbers looked really good. So good he wanted to wait for three (3) months after my last treatment to do a scan. "What you talking about Dr. Beck?" I was hopeful to walk from my last treatment to the imaging center! This was not news I wanted to hear. Finish your last treatment and then wait 90 days for the results. I tried to talk him down and I think I succeeded to have it in one month, but he said we would talk more at the last treatment. I pray this scan happens quicker than three months. Gloria, a really nice lady I met for the first time was sitting across from me and three years earlier she battled the same cancer and stage I am. Wished I met her sooner, she had a lot of wisdom. She is now fighting two small spots on her lung, but she vowed to fight until there was no more fight left. Amazing how strong these people are at the cancer center. In fact, yesterday was cool because everyone was walking around checking on each other, even grabbing drinks and snacks for other patients. Really cool! SB was to my left and while she was in the bathroom, they sat an older gentleman across from her. So, I warned him to be prepared because SB was going to set his ears on fire. She started laughing when I told her, but much to our surprise he burnt her ears to a crisp. It was really nice to see everyone just laughing and cutting up with each other. Then as my treatment finished one of the lady's said, "See you Thursday!" I said, "No ma'am I am not scheduled to come back for two weeks, so I will see you then." This sweet lady then reminded me we have to come in on Thursday to get disconnected LOL. I had totally forgot, but I was thankful for the reminder. I know I usually update a few days after I have been disconnected, but this one is going so well I wanted to let you all know. If anything beyond the normal side effects happens, I will update you then. For now, keep praying that number 12 is the last one and we are good!
