Everything I can find on having a dream uses this phrase in the above picture. 'It All Starts With A Dream.' The problem I have is with the 'A' in the phrase. And I know I am being nitpicky, but success is found in the details. I think 'A' leaves you open to being a part of someone else's dream that might not be your own dream. That's why I
think we need to replace 'A' with 'Your'. 'It All Starts With Your Dream' because if you don't have one I promise you will be living someone else's. Let me be clear. There is nothing wrong with living someone else's dream if that is what you truly want. Not everyone dreams big, and I get that. Some dream of helping others achieve their dreams. We need all types of dream chasers. Those that dream and those that help those that dream.
Every time I see my oldest son his dream has changed. That's okay because they do change a lot. However, I know he has a love for music, but he is also torn in the sense he wants to grow up too fast. He wants to work, get his own place and start living his own life. I have always encouraged my kids to live in the moment because the moments will pass too fast.
Anyway, he has gone from driving an 18-wheeler, to working on the railroad and so on. I ask him, but is this your dream or are you being swayed by what others think you should do? These are all noble and needed professions. If this is his dream then I want him to pursue it with everything he has, but if not, then don't. Life is too short to live with regret.
Let your dream come out of obedience to God and His will, not your own. (My advice to him) and to you if you are a believer. My main point is this, find your dream. Let it be yours. If your dream is to be a billionaire, then dream it, and go for it. If your dream is to be a successful entrepreneur, then go create the business. If your dream is to climb the corporate ladder, start climbing. Did you notice what I did there?
No matter what your dream is, you must take action. Action requires a plan, and this is why most people never live out their dream. If you have no plan, then you are planning to fail. So, it starts with a dream, the dream requires a plan and then the plan must be supported with consistent action. Your action is defined by your yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily goals. You can do this! No, it's not going to be easy, but it will be worth it. Start dreaming, start planning and take action now! Not Monday, not tomorrow, TODAY!
