Apparently I have been living under a rock up until a few months ago. I was not a part of the Stranger Things fandom, universe or the ever-growing fan club. This all changed when I had my two boys one weekend and my youngest asked me to watch the first episode. I love those two boys more than they will probably ever comprehend and I always look for ways to connect with them. Especially now that they are teenagers and becoming more independent and need dad less and less. Reece (13) had already finished season 4 and was waiting for the final two episodes to drop. Jackson (16) was on season two or three, I can't remember, but as I watched an episode, I noticed they wanted to discuss it. This was exciting to me because as I said, I am always looking for ways to connect. So, I went on a Stranger Things binge watch marathon. I put my business on hold, I am proud to say that I still took showers, but most everything else was neglected so I could finish and get ready for the final two episodes of season 4 to drop. There was much joy as I was constantly talking to the boys about episodes. During one episode in season 4 I was lost, after much confusion I realized I had skipped or slept through an entire episode. LOL. That's what happens when you try to binge watch 4 seasons of a TV show. One that I wasn't necessarily interested in, but I loved talking about it with the boys. I like the show, but for me it was more about talking with them. Another love of mine is the beach. It was time to plan a summer trip with the boys which is usually a beach trip, but I decided to ask for their input. Reece had recently discovered that the bulk of the show was filmed in Georgia and they decided they wanted to do a Stranger Things Road Trip. Below are pictures and a small review of our trip. Day 1 - Jackson, GA.The Alley Fight SceneWhere Joyce WorkedThe Town LibraryThe Movie TheaterIn these pictures you will see the alley where at least one, if not more fights happened. You will see where Joyce had to work, probably very underpaid I might add. Who doesn't love Winona Ryder? You will also see the courthouse which was the library and lastly the main street movie theater. PS - Have you seen Eddie? Day 2 - Stockbridge, GA.The High School And Memorial For EddieWith more time than expected to get to our second location, we decided to make a couple of pit stops in Stockbridge to see the school, then to Duluth to see the mall. Which by the way was close to a TGI Friday's. There is not much better than the Jack Daniels Chicken, Ribs and Shrimp Trio! Why did you leave the state of Alabama Friday's? We miss you! Then we made our way to Stone Mountain. Day 2 - Duluth, GA.My Happy Place And The Star Court MallDay 2 & 3 - Stone Mountain, GA.Random Pics of Stranger Things Locations and Family FunStone Mountain had enough things to do we stayed for two nights. You have the Cherokee trail where some Stranger Things action took place. You have some upside down creepiness, lake, pond, etc. You see the trail up the mountain? This is where I thought I was about to meet Jesus in person several times. Every time I would take a break I would ask someone, "How much further to the top?" The response was always the same, "You're halfway there, keep going." LOL That was the longest halfway there of my life. After my multiple near death experiences we decided to relax and enjoy the resort pool for the day. We did manage to see Max's house, the cemetery and enjoy the Laser Light show. Jackson even tried to prank me like Vecna had got him. LOL Max's and Billy's House and The CemetaryDay 4 - Rome, GA.Vechna's House And Family Fun! And The Best WingsWe took our time driving the backroads over to Rome. As we pulled into town we noticed people on the sidewalk taking pictures. We look closer and we are driving right by Vecna's crib! So, we turned around to get our pictures and then we would have the rest of the day to enjoy all that Rome had to offer.
What did they offer? Well as Reece said, "The best wings he's ever put in his mouth!" These were found at Giggity's Sports Bar and Grill. A nice walk over the river-walk from our hotel to downtown. The boy knows his wings. Comments are closed.
