Most of you that know me, know this about me. I love Jesus! I love to joke and I like all things Bama. Well, when my doctor recommended I get both, a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. I scheduled them both for 10/31/2019, thinking I would never forget having this done to me on Nick Saban's birthday. Well as it turns out I would never forget this day for another reason. First, I woke up in the middle of the colonoscopy! I could tell they did the endoscopy first because I couldn't really speak at first. Then I finally mustered up enough air to let someone know. I was back out in no time.
The next time I woke up I was in recovery. The doctor made his way in to speak with me and I felt more alert. This may have been due to me waking up in the middle of the colonoscopy. The doctor said, "Endoscopy looked great." Which was a surprise to me, given the heartburn issues I've had over the years, but then he said, "The colonoscopy did not fair as well. I removed a lot of polyps, large ones and small ones. Then I was unable to complete the procedure because a large mass was blocking the pathway. I have biopsied it and we should have the results in a few days." My mind immediately went to thoughts of my two sons. I asked the nurse if I could get dressed and use the restroom. When I got to the restroom I broke down uncontrollably. After about 10 minutes of praying, I realized either way I belong to God and He is faithful. Honestly, all I knew is they found a mass, but it still had not been confirmed as cancerous. There wasn't much that could be done at this point, so I went to Hamburger Heaven and enjoyed real food again.
