I recently felt led to give a $100 to a specific ministry. What happened next, blew me away. I want to add an immediate disclaimer that this post is not in support of the prosperity gospel. We hear phrases like, "Name it and claim it", "God wants you to be rich", "Sow a $1000 seed, reap a $10,000 harvest", and the misused catch phrases go on and on with prosperity gospel and the charlatans that preach this fake gospel. Can God bless us financially? Absolutely. He is God. However, I don't think He is as concerned with what we drive, the house we live in or the size of our bank account. The more we understand that it is about Him and not about us, the better we can serve Him faithfully in Christ.
So back to the $100 donation. I am a member of a local church that supports giving to the Annie Armstrong Missions Ministry every year for Easter. With the lock down and not being able to attend church I like countless others have been mailing in my tithes and offerings. On April 17th I took my tithes check to the post office to mail. On the way I felt a prompting in my spirit to give $100 to Annie Armstrong. I immediately thought, "Lord I would love to, but I have medical bills. Specifically one unpaid bill for $600 that I could use the hundred dollars toward." However, over the weekend the feeling that I needed to give the $100 only intensified. In fact, the final straw was when I felt the Lord impress upon my spirit this simple question. "Do you trust me?" I immediately wrote out the check and went to the post office. I never expected anything in return. No mansion, no Lamborghini, nothing. I simply looked at this offering as being faithful to God and that someone on the receiving end would be blessed. However, this is where the story takes an amazing twist. While fighting cancer the medical bills were piling up with no end in sight. With more treatments to come I knew this wouldn't end soon. However, the $600 bill had been weighing heavy on me. Our God is amazing. Within 23 hours of mailing that $100 offering, I received $600 in donations. I know right? I was amazed too. The exact amount of the bill I mentioned to God. Here's where it gets even more amazing. Within the next 84 hours I received an additional $3300.00. More donations, a stimulus check and an unexpected quarterly bonus from my employer. This allowed me to get everything caught up and left me with enough to cover a few upcoming medical expenses. God always blesses our faithfulness. Sometimes we get to see it and sometimes the blessing is just knowing we were faithful in our obedience to God in our lives. I truly think when we stand before Christ to give an account for what we did or didn't do in His name, we will be blessed by the things that were accomplished for His glory that we never knew about that we played a role in through faithful obedience.
