You know how when you love people you want to empower them to become the best version of themselves possible, right? These two right here are my greatest loves outside of God. I only want the best for them, and I know early on, I failed to deliver on a lot of my hopes and dreams for them. If you have kids, you know exactly what I mean. And if you are a dad that sees your child or children on a limited basis, then you struggle even more. One of the things I do every morning and have been doing for almost a year, is I send them a daily devotion and or a piece of scripture. Then I give further detail on what it means, etc. I love doing this because one, they respond back with love you and two, I feel like in some way I am planting seeds for Christ that one day will blossom into beautiful flowers. However, I know my kids. So, from time to time I will resend the same message within a day or two from when I originally sent it. Guess what. They don't even notice it. Sure, this makes me sad, but there is a lesson here for all of us. 'The Lesson Is Simply This, Don't Stop Doing What You Know to Be Right Even Though It's Not Producing The Results You Want!" See, the lesson really is that simple. Sometimes it takes time to get to the desired results. Now I am not talking about the definition of insanity. 'Do what you have always done, and you will get what you always got." In my desired results, they would read these messages and then ask me questions. This would lead to discussion and growth. Anyway, so today I decided to start something new. At the very end of the message, I added this text, 'Ten Dollars each if you reply back that you read this.' That's it, that's all that had to do to get $10. So, they have both responded to the message from this morning. Who gets $10? Well today, no one! I guess I do. Because I won't lose $20. The replies are back and here is what each one of them said. Jackson's response: Wa U. His funny way of saying I love You. Reece's response: Love U. His way of saying I Love You. In fact, these are the responses every single day. And you know what? I am thankful for them every single day. I know that one day, they will read these, and my only hope is that I am still here to discuss them with them.
My hope for you today is that you will not give up on your family or someone you are trying to help. That each day you will keep pressing on doing what you know to be right and leave the results, impact, and change to God. Your part is to be faithful to continue to love them and shower them in His truth, the results are outside of your control.
